CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A warrant has been requested for the arrest of Clancy Fields, who reportedly escaped from custody while on a medical furlough, according to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office. Fields, who was serving a 64-day sentence for theft at the Ross County Jail (RCJ), was granted a medical furlough on April 29, after exhibiting stroke-like symptoms and being transported to ARMC for treatment.
The furlough, authorized by the Chillicothe Municipal Court, allowed Fields to receive medical care at ARMC, with the condition that he return to the RCJ immediately upon his release from hospitalization. However, after leaving the emergency room, Fields checked himself into the Rulon Center, a rehabilitation facility, but subsequently left without notifying authorities. His current whereabouts are unknown.
The request for a warrant comes after Fields failed to report back to the RCJ to complete his sentence as stipulated in the furlough agreement. Authorities have confirmed that Fields signed the furlough paperwork, which was placed in his inmate file. Additionally, verification with ARMC confirmed that Fields is no longer under their care. However, he has not been in contact with the Chillicothe Municipal Court probation department either.
Law enforcement agencies are now actively seeking the whereabouts of Clancy Fields, and charges of escape are expected to be filed against him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
A picture of Fields has not been released by the sheriff’s office. The Guardian is working to provide an image to the public.
