Another shooting incident unfolded on the same day, further exacerbating the rising violence in Chillicothe. Law enforcement responded to a shooting complaint at 736 Madison Ave, revealing a disturbing encounter involving two individuals. As authorities delve deeper into the case, they are now seeking a warrant for the suspect’s arrest on charges of Felonious Assault.
According to the report, a victim recounted the harrowing incident, stating that the suspect fired a 9mm handgun at them while they were crossing the street. Allegedly, the suspect yelled at the victim from an upstairs window, inquiring about their destination. The victim responded innocently, stating that they had just been paid and were heading to the gas station. In a sudden turn of events, the suspect accused the victim of stealing their money and menacingly claimed that they would “show them.” With that, the suspect extended their arm out of the window and fired a single shot in the victim’s direction. Terrified, the victim immediately fled the scene and contacted the police. A written statement from the victim is still pending, awaiting submission to the authorities.
Law enforcement officers proceeded to gather accounts from other individuals present at the scene. A witness, who reportedly spent the night with the suspect in the upstairs front bedroom, confirmed hearing and witnessing the suspect at the window. They described the chilling moment when a loud shot rang out. The suspect then hastily navigated through the house’s second floor before leaping out of a rear window onto a metal roof covering the rear porch. Escaping on foot, the suspect managed to flee the scene. The witness, however, declined to provide a written statement, leaving investigators to rely solely on their initial account.
Additional testimonies were obtained from witnesses present in the house during the incident. One individual, who was in the living room at the time, reported hearing the gunshot but did not witness the events transpire. Another individual, asleep in the rear upstairs bedroom, was abruptly awakened by the sound of gunfire. They stated that they did not observe or hear anything else before returning to sleep.
Efforts to contact the suspect in the case have thus far proven fruitless. As a result, law enforcement authorities are taking action, seeking a warrant for the suspect’s arrest on charges of Felonious Assault. With two separate shooting incidents on the same day, the urgency to address the mounting violence within Chillicothe grows more pressing.
With the city of Chillicothe grappling with a series of recent shootings, residents are growing increasingly concerned about the lack of decisive action to quell the surge in violence.
