LOGAN, Ohio — In Hocking County, on Sunday evening, a Logan Police Officer and a K-9 were injured by gunfire while responding to a domestic dispute call, as reported by the sheriff’s office. The incident occurred at approximately 7:14 p.m. off Bremen Road, north of state Route 93, in Logan.

During the response to the call, shots were fired in the vicinity, leading to the deputy and K-9 being struck by gunfire at least once. The exact details surrounding the shooting remain unclear at this time, according to Hocking County Sheriff Chief Deputy Pennie Stack. However, one suspect is now in custody.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. As for the K-9, deputies confirmed to the Guardian he was going to live.

Amidst the incident, multiple cruisers had their windows shot out, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. Consequently, residents in the area have been urged to stay clear while emergency responders continue to work at the scene.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken charge of investigating the incident. Moreover, numerous agencies provided assistance at the scene, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, Logan Police Department, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, Special Response Teams, and SWAT units.
