ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio — The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a solo car crash around 7 p.m. on Monday. The incident involved a 2011 Nissan Versa that was traveling eastbound on Poston Road.
Upon reaching the scene, responders found the Nissan Versa had veered off the right side of the road, re-entered the pavement, crossed the center line, and slid off the road once more before colliding with a utility pole. The collision caused the Nissan to overturn and come to a rest on its top.
The driver, identified as Brandon M. Scheaffer Fuller, 29, of Nelsonville, suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to O’Bleness Hospital, where despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Assistance at the scene was provided by The Plains Fire Department, Dover Township Fire Department, and Athens County EMS in coordination with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, who are working to determine the factors that contributed to the incident. At this time, no further details about the crash have been released.
