CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — David Daniels, a 55-year-old man with outstanding warrants, was apprehended this week by law enforcement officers after attempting to flee on a bicycle. The incident unfolded when officers with the Chillicothe Police Department observed Daniels riding a bicycle and confirmed the presence of active warrants. The officer alerted a fellow officer to the situation, who independently verified the warrants.

Daniels attempted to evade capture by entering a Goldie Gunlock park. Despite his efforts to evade authorities, the officer maintained a watchful eye on the area. Subsequently, reports emerged that Daniels was being pursued by another officer on a bicycle and might be heading towards a local mall.

As Daniels rode his bicycle through a parking lot, per the report, the first officer maneuvered his vehicle to block Daniels’ path and activated police lights in an attempt to halt his escape. A detective present at the scene shouted at Daniels to stop and was successful in seizing his backpack. The situation escalated as the officer tackled Daniels, instructing him to place his hands behind his back. Although initially uncooperative, the officer said, Daniels was ultimately apprehended.

Additional law enforcement personnel arrived at the scene to assist in managing the situation. The arresting officer filed a departmental use-of-force report, detailing the application of a takedown technique during the arrest.

Upon transport to the Ross County Jail, Daniels complained of discomfort in his leg and shoulder before reportedly experiencing a seizure. Daniels was subsequently transported to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. Following clearance from medical staff, he was returned to jail.
