CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Students at Unioto High School were under lockdown after a student was transported to the hospital after a reported overdose.

Multiple deputies responded to the high school, along with medics from Scioto Township and Union Township at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Five ambulances in total were called to the school after it was said that a student was passing out edibles laced with drugs.

Dispatch initially said that eight students were involved in the abuse of the drugs.

School Superintendent Matt Thornsberry issued a statement saying, “I wanted to inform our parents that we have an incident involving a student distributing and ingesting edibles at the high school. We responded immediately by involving law enforcement and are cooperating fully to address and resolve the situation. If necessary, we will provide additional information at a later time. Thank you.”

Two students were arrested and taken into custody for their involvement. They face formal charges in the Probate-Juvenile Court.
