CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A young child was rushed to the emergency room on Thursday after showing symptoms of a possible drug ingestion. According to the attending medics, the child was flailing her arms, and her pupils were dilated, indicative of a potential drug effect.

A nurse at the hospital confirmed that both urine and blood samples were collected from the child. The tests revealed methamphetamine in the child’s system. As a result, the girl was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Columbus for further care.

The mother of the child reported that her daughter had been at another house for babysitting over the last couple of days and was returned to her home afterwards. The child seemed normal upon her return. The mother and child later visited a grandfather’s residence, where the mother maintained visual contact with her daughter, the mom reported. During the visit, the only thing the child was observed consuming was a few Lifesaver gummies, police reports read. The child’s unusual arm movements began around 2:00 a.m. prompting the mother to call for medical assistance at 3:00 a.m.

The mother further stated that during their visit to at grandpa’s, she did not witness any individuals using illegal drugs.

While the investigation continues, Child Protective Services (CPS) confirmed that they would be initiating an investigation into the incident, including reviewing medical records and lab results. The child was removed from the home and entrusted with the babysitter.

As the case unfolds, authorities are urging residents to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to report any suspicious activities to local law enforcement.
