The Guardian is issuing a BOLO (BE ON THE LOOKOUT) for our next rockstar reporter; we’re seeking to bring on the next member of our team.
We’re the #1 news source for the Scioto Valley and we’re making history. We hold the powerful accountable, we dig for answers, and we tell it like it is. We’re so good at our jobs that even the Supreme Court agreed with us. (It’s true).
Want to work in a place where the news never stops? Like the rush of chasing the next big story? Can you hunt for content in the middle of chaos? That’s us.
We’re 45 minutes from bustlin’ metro-Columbus, an hour’s drive from historic Dayton, and a stone’s throw from the hills of West Virginia. Rather you like it country, city, or living in between — Chillicothe is where it’s at. Don’t believe us? Just ask the folks at the Smithsonian who named us one of the top 15 small towns in America to visit.
Just as they said: whether it’s watching the Chillicothe Paints, a collegiate summer baseball team that celebrates their 30th season this year, in action, or catching a show at the Majestic Theatre, which began as an opera house in 1853 and now plays host to a selection of comedy nights, album release parties and Patsy Cline tribute shows, Chillicothe offers plenty to entertain. Located along the Scioto River in southern Ohio’s Appalachian foothills, Chillicothe served as Ohio’s capital twice during the state’s 200-plus-year history. The human history of its land, of course, dates back much further.
The Guardian is hiring an experienced news journalist with the proven ability to produce compelling local content. In addition to day-turn reporting, you will also have the opportunity to work on long-form storytelling as part of our investigative reporting team. You’ll work under an editor who has built his life on facts and holding the powerful accountable. You’ll also work alongside other talented journalists, as well as have the latest, coolest tools needed to do your job.
We are an award-winning, hard-working newsroom committed to strong local journalism and outstanding community coverage. We are a dynamic and progressive company that values our employees, our culture, and our community.
