DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A single-vehicle crash on Egypt Pike left a motorcyclist severely injured Thursday night.
The accident occurred around 10 P.M., .3 miles north of Dogtown Road in Deerfield Township, Ross County, according to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Tina Richmond, 50, of Clarksburg, was traveling southeast on a Harley-Davidson when she failed to negotiate a curve, veering off the left side of the road and striking a ditch, troopers said. The motorcycle overturned before coming to rest off the roadway.
Richmond, who was not wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, by MedFlight due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident prompted a response from Deerfield Township Fire/EMS, alongside MedFlight. The roadway was temporarily shut down for about an hour as authorities conducted an investigation into the crash, which remains ongoing.
