Two Chillicothe residents, 19-year-old Cameron D. Renner and 22-year-old Darnell S. Thompson, have been indicted on first-degree felony charges related to an alleged aggravated robbery in Highland County. These indictments were issued by a grand jury on October 3.
Renner and Thompson are facing a series of charges, including one count each of complicity to aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery, both of which are first-degree felonies. Additionally, they have been charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and have received two gun specifications. Renner faces an additional charge for having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony.
According to the indictment, on or around August 16-17, Renner and Thompson, in cooperation with two other unnamed suspects, were involved in an aggravated robbery in Highland County. During the alleged robbery, both individuals were said to possess a .40 caliber handgun, which they either displayed, brandished, or indicated that they had in their possession. The indictment also asserts that the suspects knowingly attempted to cause serious physical harm to a victim using the firearm.
The indictment includes gun specifications concerning the aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges.
Renner’s indictment further notes that he remains under disability due to a pending indictment in Ross County Common Pleas Court, which involves a charge of improper discharge of a firearm at or into a habitation, a second-degree felony.
In addition to these indictments, there are unrelated cases:
- Mark David Younker, aged 28 and from Xenia, has been charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance, a fifth-degree felony, and a forfeiture specification. The charges relate to events around August 25, where Younker is accused of attempting to elude a police officer and receiving stolen property, all while being in possession of a sawed-off firearm.
- James V. Brown Jr., aged 43 and hailing from Greenfield, faces charges of forgery and theft by deception, both fifth-degree felonies. The allegations suggest that between June and July, Brown knowingly used a forged check with the intent to defraud and acquired $3,450 from a victim in Highland County.
- Andrew A. Caroppoli, aged 65, from Springfield, is charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony, for purportedly obtaining or taking control of various items, including chainsaws, a blower, a tool set, and other items, from an individual in Highland County without their consent.
