PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A tragic accident occurred in Newton Township, Pike County, when a mother was arrested after her young daughter was killed in a car crash.

Chasity D. Bliss crashed her car on Jasper Road, leading to the death of her seven-year-old daughter. The accident occurred around 3:43 P.M. on Monday.

Authorities from the Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that Bliss was traveling eastbound with her two daughters when she veered off the left side of the road. The vehicle ramped over a driveway, collided with a utility pole and a tree, before finally coming to a halt in a field.

The impact resulted in fatal injuries to her seven-year-old daughter, who was believed to be not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Her five-year-old daughter, however, escaped unscathed.
