WAVERLY, Ohio — A toddler caused a scare Thursday in Waverly after shooting his mother’s gun.

It happened on Thursday, when the Waverly Police Department got a 911 call about a gunshot at Wal-Mart.

When officers arrived a woman explained that her two-year-old accidentally fired her Taurus 9mm from her purse, hitting the ceiling. The child got a minor injury from the magazine.

The child was handed over to a guardian and taken to Urgent Care.

The woman responsible for the gun was arrested and charged with Endangering Children in Pike County Court.

No one else was injured.
