CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Sheetz continues its tradition of offering affordable fuel and festive wordplay, introducing the “Tanks-giving” promotion for Happy Hour savings on unleaded 88 fuel, also known as E15. The discounted price is set at $1.99 per gallon and will be available until the Monday following Thanksgiving.

While not reaching the low of $1.776 seen during the Independence Day sale, this promotion exclusively applies to unleaded 88 fuel, contrasting with the broader fuel types included in the previous offer. Notably, the majority of gasoline prices in the Columbus area currently exceed $3 per gallon.

Unleaded 88, characterized by its ethanol content of up to 15%, differs from the commonly known “regular” unleaded 87, which contains up to 10% ethanol. Compatible with most vehicles manufactured after 2001, it is crucial to note that ethanol’s lower energy per gallon may result in a 3% to 4% reduction in mileage efficiency compared to regular unleaded 87, as reported by Fueleconomy.gov, a platform administered by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Despite the potential decrease in mileage efficiency, the prevailing average price per gallon for regular fuel stands at $3.14, according to AAA on Monday, making Sheetz’s discounted price of $1.99 per gallon for unleaded 88 a compelling choice for motorists, even with the associated decrease in fuel efficiency.
