CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Bright and early Thanksgiving morning, nearly 350 runners and walkers gathered in Yoctangee Park to take off on the 18th Officer Larry Cox Memorial Turkey Trot. From dogs to kids to friend groups and families, the course was full of excitement.
This 5k run and fun walk are dedicated each year in memory of Officer Larry Cox of the Chillicothe City Police Department who lost his life while serving the community. Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers, Inc. hosted the annual event and shared the sentiment, “In memory of our friend.”
Canvas tote bags, fly swatters and frisbees were given away as well as participant medals for placing and finishing the course. Proceeds from the $25 registration fee is put towards the Officer Larry Cox Memorial Scholarship fund.
