ATHENS, Ohio — Five people were tragically killed on Thanksgiving day in southern Ohio.
The Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic fire that claimed the lives of five individuals at a residence on Rainbow Lake Road early Thursday in Athens County. The inquiry was initiated following a call for an investigator received by the state agency at 8 a.m. on Thursday, as reported by Mikaela Hunt, Chief Communications Officer for the Ohio Department of Commerce. Additional details are anticipated to be made available on Friday.
Multiple sources have confirmed that the fire occurred at a trailer located in the 11500-block of Rainbow Lake Road, situated to the south of Athens.
Responding to the incident were various fire departments, including the Richland Area Fire Department, Albany Area Volunteer Fire Department, City of Athens Fire Department, and York Township Volunteer Fire Department.
As of now, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
