ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Deputies with Ross County were involved in a pursuit Wednesday night with an alleged drunken driver.

Deputy Robert Rush, while conducting speed enforcement on US 23 near Trego Creek Road, initiated a high-speed chase that concluded with the arrest of Olivia Barker. The White Ford Escape driven by Barker reached speeds exceeding 100 miles-per-hour and led law enforcement through a pursuit before coming to a stop near Southern Avenue in Chillicothe.

Upon apprehension, Barker showed signs of impairment, prompting a thorough search by Deputy Sara Hempstead. A breathalyzer test revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.213, well above the legal limit. Barker faces a myriad of charges, including Felony Failure to Comply with Police Orders, Resisting Arrest, and Operating a Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol (OVI).

Following her arrest, Barker was cited for various traffic violations, including speeding, reckless operation, and failure to comply with a stop sign. Despite being provided with copies of her citations and criminal charges, Barker refused to sign, citing concerns of self-incrimination.
