ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A Chillicothe woman was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend on February 9th, leading to his arrest on domestic violence and strangulation charges.
Initial Response:
Deputies responded to a dispute call on the evening of February 9th. Upon arrival, deputies heard crying and observed a woman, identified, on the floor in distress.
According to the police report, the woman had visible injuries, including facial swelling, redness, and bruising around her throat and neck.
Investigation and Arrest:
The victim initially declined to press charges, citing fear of retaliation. However, she later changed her mind and provided a statement, claiming her boyfriend, identified as Cameron Wells, had assaulted her. Deputies documented the injuries and detained Cameron after learning he potentially possessed firearms in his vehicle.
Cameron denied assaulting the victim, claiming she sustained her injuries accidentally. However, due to the visible injuries and conflicting statements, he was arrested on domestic violence and strangulation charges. Cameron was transported to the Ross County Jail.
Evidence and Follow-up:
Deputies assisted in towing and inventorying Cameron’s vehicle, where multiple firearms were discovered and secured as evidence.
The victim subsequently provided additional documentation and photos of her injuries to support the case.
