Randal “Randy” Ray Benner, 54 of Waverly, Ohio passed away unexpectedly as the result of a tragic auto accident, on February 14, 2024.  

Randy was a loving husband and doting father.  He was selfless, kind, funny and hardworking.  Everything he did was done with integrity and for his family.  His dedication to his family was unsurpassed and evident to all who knew him.  He enjoyed playing with his daughter, napping and traveling.  His favorite places to visit were Maine and Colorado.  His dream was to one day take his daughter to Yellowstone National Park.  He passed on his love of sporting events to his daughter.  They could often be found watching sports on television or attending live events.  Regardless of the circumstances, he never missed any of Lilly’s games, performances or ceremonies.  He led by example and was a lifelong learner, continuously striving to better himself and those around him.  

Randy graduated from The Ohio State University in 1991 with a Bachelor degree in Political Science.  He began working for Bristol Village Healthcare Center, a property of National Church Residences in 2000.  He held the position of Marketing Director from 2000 – 2002.  He took a Marketing Director position at Pleasant Hill Manor from 2002 – 2008, and returned to Bristol Village Healthcare Center in 2008 at the Marketing Director and held the position until 2016, where he was promoted to Administrator in 2016.  In 2023, he was promoted to Senior Executive Director at Traditions of Chillicothe.

Randy’s core passion mirrored the mission of National Church Residences “strive daily to provide the highest quality of care to our residents and staff, while cultivating a culture of service to others”. He regularly thought not of himself, but lived his life for his family, his staff and residents, and his community. His leadership, wisdom and presence will be deeply missed within the organization.

Randy was united in marriage to Paula Mather Benner on May 1, 2004 who survives.  Also surviving are his daughter Lillian, mother, Janet Benner, brother, Otto Benner and in-laws, Paul and Donna Mather.  He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Benner and uncle, Richard Anderson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Chaplain Paul Girdley officiating.  Burial will follow in Hamden Cemetery in Hamden, Ohio.  Family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
