ROSS COUNTY, Ohio —– Two men are in custody following a shooting early Friday morning in Ross County, stemming from a reported domestic dispute.
According to initial reports, the incident transpired around 2 a.m. on Cattail Road when a custody disagreement escalated to violence. The suspect, identified as Glenn Winfield II, allegedly showed a firearm and opened fire.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including officers from the Chillicothe Police Department, responded to the scene. While Winfield II initially fled the scene, he was later apprehended by Deputy Jacob JoHansen along Egypt Pike.
Winfield II faces charges of having a weapon under disability, using weapons while intoxicated, and felonious assault. Authorities confirmed he was on felony probation at the time of the incident. The weapon used in the crime, a 9mm handgun, was reportedly discarded by the suspect during his escape-attempt.
Additionally, Clayton Long was arrested on charges of inciting violence. His specific role in the altercation remains under investigation, and authorities haven’t released further details regarding his involvement.
