CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — New details have emerged regarding the overnight shooting incident in Ross County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Initially dispatched to a residence on Cattail Road for a reported threat, deputies learned the suspect, identified as Glenn Winfield II, was reportedly heading to his ex-partner’s house to pick up their children. Shortly after, a second 911 call alerted dispatchers of a shooting.
Responding deputy, Deputy Jacob Johansen encountered Winfield’s vehicle on Egypt Pike and found three individuals inside, including Winfield. A search of the vehicle yielded multiple open alcohol containers, burnt marijuana joints, a small bag of white powder, and digital scales.
Winfield reportedly admitted to threatening everyone at the residence but denied brandishing a firearm. Deputies later located a weapon, a stolen Ruger LCP .380 handgun, at the intersection of Cattail Road and Egypt Pike.
While the intended victim was not shot, they sustained minor bruising from a ricocheting bullet. The vehicle they were in was struck multiple times. A second suspect, Clayton Long, was also arrested, allegedly for encouraging Winfield to shoot.
Investigators gathered witness statements and recovered two .380 caliber shell casings from the scene. Both Winfield and Long remain incarcerated at the Ross County Jail.
