COLUMBUS, Ohio — The J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund has commenced its application process for the 2024-2025 grant program. Aimed at benefiting 501c3 nonprofit organizations with a significant presence in Jackson County, focusing primarily on education or health issues, the fund has historically awarded grants not exceeding $10,000 per grantee.

In the previous year, the fund approved grants totaling $48,875, benefiting several local organizations including Elizabeth’s Hope Pregnancy Resources, Jackson Area Festivals and Events, and Jackson City Schools, among others.

The deadline for applications is Monday, April 29, 2024. Interested parties can access applications online through The Columbus Foundation’s web-based portal here. The J. Floyd Dixon Memorial Fund honors the legacy of Professor Floyd Dixon, who dedicated his life to education, particularly in Jackson County near Oak Hill. Established in 1997 by Mr. Dixon’s daughter, Elizabeth Watson, the fund continues to support educational initiatives in the region.

Managed by Community Foundations, Inc., the fund operates under the oversight of a committee comprising members of the Watson family and local community representatives.
