NORMAN, Oklahoma — The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of the Buckeye State, effective until 12:00 AM on Friday.
The watch includes the following counties: Delaware, Franklin, Madison, Fairfield, Hocking, Pickaway, Fayette, Licking, Ross, Union, Butler, Clinton, Hamilton, Warren, Auglaize, Darke, Champaign, Greene, Clark, Hardin, Logan Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby.
Residents are advised to have multiple means to receive weather alerts and to stay informed about the latest weather conditions.
It’s important to note the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning. A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. It does not mean that a tornado has been spotted, but it is a good time to review your tornado safety plan and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.
On the other hand, a Tornado Warning means that a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. If a tornado warning is issued for your area, you should take immediate action to protect yourself and others by moving to a small, windowless, interior room on the lowest level of your home.
