COLUMBUS, Ohio — After serving a 4-year prison sentence, disgraced meteorologist and former Columbus news personality Mike Davis is expected to regain his freedom in May. Davis, once a familiar face on local television, fell from grace due to his involvement in child pornography.
In January 2020, Davis pleaded guilty to four counts of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. The court sentenced him to four to six years in prison. His fall from grace shocked the central Ohio community, especially considering his more than 30-year career as a meteorologist.

The scandal unfolded in 2019 when law enforcement executed a search warrant at Davis’s Upper Arlington home and the WBNS 10TV studios where he had worked for decades. The investigation yielded over 15,000 images of child pornography on devices owned by Davis, including his laptop at the WBNS studio. The station terminated his employment following his arrest.
Davis has been incarcerated at the Grafton Correctional Institution. According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections website, his release is expected to be May 25, 2024. Following his release from prison, Mike Davis will be subjected to five years of supervised parole. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
