WAVERLY, Ohio — Firefighters from Ross and Pike counties battled a fire that broke out at a commercial building near downtown Waverly. The emergency call was received shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, reporting a large structure fire in the vicinity of North Market Street and Emmitt Avenue in the heart of downtown.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this time, however, it started in an upstairs apartment. Two people and a child made it out safely but lost everything. Damage was caused to nearby buildings, including the local library.
Residents are strongly advised to steer clear of the area surrounding the fire.
