CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe City Council is gearing up for its regular meeting scheduled for March 25th, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The council convenes at 26 South Paint Street on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.

Key Legislative Items on the Agenda:

  1. Pay Scale for Seasonal Employees:
    • The council will consider an ordinance establishing the pay scale for part-time summer and fall seasonal employees across various city departments. These include Parks and Recreation, Recreation (swimming pool), Engineering, Utilities, Administration, Service, Police, Law Director, Human Resources, and Auditor’s departments. The proposed scale will be in effect for the calendar year 2024.
  2. Chillicothe Transit Department Policies:
    • The council will review two ordinances related to the Chillicothe Transit Department:
      • Title VI Policy and Procedure: The updated policy will be formally accepted and adopted.
      • Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy: The revised policy will also be accepted and adopted.
  3. Funding for Continuing Professional Education:
    • An ordinance will be discussed to accept and appropriate $21,331.50received from the Ohio Attorney General’s office. This funding is allocated for the Chillicothe Police Department’s participation in the Q4 Continuing Professional Education Program.
  4. Mayor’s Chief of Staff Position:
    • The council will consider an ordinance authorizing the mayor’s office to fill the vacant Mayor’s Chief of Staff position. The proposed funding of $70,000.00 will cover the position through the end of 2024.

New Legislation Under Review:

  1. Chillicothe Police Department Maintenance and AVL Software:
    • A first reading of an ordinance appropriating $25,813.80 will take place. The funds are earmarked for costs related to the Chillicothe Police Department’s annual Zuercher maintenance and fees. Additionally, the allocation will support the purchase of AVL Software for the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System.
  2. Chillicothe Fire Department Engine-1 Repairs:
    • Another first reading will address an ordinance appropriating $25,000.00for necessary repairs to the Chillicothe Fire Department Engine-1.
  3. Wildlife Feeding Prohibition:
    • The council will introduce an ordinance adding Section 505.19 Feeding of Wildlife Prohibited to the Codified Ordinances of the City of Chillicothe, Ohio.
