ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Residents of Ross County are encouraged to attend an informational meeting regarding the future of Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, a troubled cemetery in the area. The meeting will take place in the Myers Room at the Northside Branch Library and will provide updates on the cemetery’s current status within the Ross County legal system.
Floral Hills Memory Gardens, located at 4284 Route 23 South between Chillicothe and Waverly. The cemetery has encountered significant challenges since its owners defaulted more than a decade ago, leaving volunteers to maintain the grounds.
The same owners, Downey & Miller, also abandoned another Floral Hills cemetery in Pickaway County. Despite attempts to auction the property due to delinquent taxes, these efforts were unsuccessful. Consequently, the cemetery was defaulted to the state by the Pickaway County Treasurer’s Office. Following a third auction organized by the Ohio Auditor, the cemetery was purchased by an individual at a fraction of its value.
The meeting will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM, on March 29.
