CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a variety of calls for service throughout the day on April 1st. Here’s a summary of some of those incidents, in chronological order:
- Traffic Stop Leads to Unlicensed Driver Citation: At 1:33 AM, Deputy Stanley conducted a traffic stop on a black Pontiac G6 on North Bridge Street after observing a malfunctioning headlight. The investigation revealed the male driver to be unlicensed. The male was cited, and the female passenger driving the vehicle at the time of the stop was cited for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle.
- Dispute Between Roommates: Shortly after 11:00 AM, Sergeant McGoye responded to a residence on Sixth Street in Clarksburg regarding a dispute between two roommates. The complainant reportedly gave money to the homeowner for a month’s stay but then requested a refund, which the homeowner refused. Both parties were advised to seek resolution through small claims court.
- Elderly Woman Reports False Allegations: Around 12:30 PM, Sergeant McGoye spoke with an elderly woman at the Law Enforcement Complex lobby. The woman expressed concern about alleged criminal activity from over a decade ago. After speaking with her family and the woman herself, it was determined she suffered from Onset Dementia and was confused about the matter.
- Identity Theft Investigation: At 4:06 PM, a resident of Chillicothe reported to the Law Enforcement Complex that someone used their Social Security number to apply for a disability expense card. An investigation into the fraudulent activity began.
- Break-in Attempt: Shortly after 3:00 PM, deputies responded to a report of a burglary on Potts Hill Road in Bainbridge. The homeowner reported two males attempted to break into their garage and steal a log splitter. An investigation is underway.
- Disorderly Conduct: Around 6:52 PM, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Black Run Road in Chillicothe for a reported disorderly conduct incident. The caller advised they were threatened by another male. An investigation was conducted.
- Possible Active Breaking and Entering: Around 9:50 PM, deputies responded to a report of a possible active breaking and entering on US Route 50 in Londonderry. The caller reported several people were inside a garage stealing property. An investigation is ongoing.
