JACKSON, Ohio — Troopers from the Jackson Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred early this morning at the intersection of US-35 eastbound and SR-32 westbound. The collision resulted in injuries to a trooper from the Jackson Post.
According to reports, the incident took place at 4:08 AM when a green 2001 Dodge Ram, driven by Aric L. Yates, age 57, of Wellston, Ohio, was traveling westbound on SR-32. At the same time, a silver 2021 Dodge Charger, operated by Trooper Joshua D. McCarty of Jackson, was stopped at the posted stop sign at the intersection of US-35 eastbound and SR-32 westbound. Trooper McCarty was responding to an emergency call and had his emergency lights and siren activated.
It was reported that Mr. Yates lost control of his vehicle, sliding off the right side of the roadway, and subsequently striking the patrol car.
Trooper McCarty sustained minor injuries and was transported to Holzer ER in Jackson by Jackson County EMS. Fortunately, Mr. Yates did not sustain any injuries in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
