CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting his longtime girlfriend and firing multiple weapons inside their home.
On April 6, deputies were dispatched to the Chillicothe VA Medical Center regarding an alleged assault stemming from an earlier incident at a residence on Austin Road in Ross County.
Upon arrival, deputies interviewed the victim who reported being assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, Shon Earles. The victim, the deputy said in their report, had visible scratches and bruises on her face, hands, and knees. She stated that Earles had accused her of cheating and working with authorities before attacking her.
The victim also claimed Earles fired multiple gunshots inside the house while she was present. She told the officer she believed she might have been struck by the bullets if she had been closer to the impacted wall.
Deputies proceeded to the residence where they observed spent casings from both .223 and .380 caliber firearms. During questioning, Earles admitted to knowing the victim was injured but claimed she sustained the injuries in a fall.
Earles was placed under arrest and transported to the county jail. During a search of the residence, officers seized a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 rifle chambered in .223 Rem and a Lorcin .380 semi-automatic pistol, along with additional spent casings.
Earles is expected to face charges related to domestic violence, assault, and the unlawful restraint.
