CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A local man, previously indicted for attempted murder, is once again in police custody. Jason Lytle, 46, was arrested over the weekend facing a slew of new charges including Robbery, Assault, Domestic Violence, Obstruction, and Resisting Arrest, according to the Chillicothe Police Department.
The Guardian initially reported on the case in July of the previous year. Lytle was accused of using his vehicle as a weapon in an attempt to kill another local man. The victim was found in front of Cheap Tobacco on the corner of East Main and Bridge Streets around 3:30 a.m., writhing in pain and claiming to have been struck by a vehicle. Despite the absence of a vehicle at the scene, the man was transported to a local hospital due to severe pain in his hips and legs.
Following an intense investigation, a statewide manhunt was launched for Lytle. Police believe Lytle used an SUV to intentionally pin the victim against a brick wall. The motive behind the attack remains undisclosed. Law enforcement was able to identify Lytle as the suspect due to the incident being captured on several security cameras in the area, owned by local businesses. The SUV believed to be used in the attack was seized by police and confirmed to be involved in the incident.
Lytle was subsequently indicted for attempted murder and felonious assault and had been out on bond prior to this weekend. The Guardian will provide more details on the new charges as the report from the Chillicothe Police Department becomes available. This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
