ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Law enforcement authorities in Ross County were involved in a high-speed pursuit that began in the city of Chillicothe and ended with the arrest of 26-year-old Cameron Scott Napier.
The chase began along East Main Street in Chillicothe after officers attempted to stop a 2011 Mercury Milan for expired tags. That is when Napier reportedly fled from police. The Chillicothe Police Department terminated their pursuit but was eventually taken over by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol around 1 AM on Tuesday. The pursuit reached dangerous speeds exceeding 80 mph as Napier navigated across various roadways, including Routes 23, 35, and 104.
Napier reportedly drove erratically, reaching speeds of nearly 90 mph along Bridge Street. The chase continued along Route 23 before eventually concluding in the area of Massieville and Lake Drive. Napier allegedly abandoned his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, resisting arrest and prompting law enforcement to deploy a taser.
The exact reason for Napier’s flight has not yet been disclosed by officials. This incident marks the latest in a series of high-speed pursuits occurring weekly in Ross County. Napier is currently in custody at the Ross County Jail, facing several charges related to the pursuit. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
