COLUMBUS, Ohio — The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed the touchdown of an EF1 tornado in Delaware County, just north of Columbus. The tornado was part of a line of severe storms that swept across Ohio on Wednesday, April 17.
A survey team from the NWS confirmed the touchdown late last night in the far southeast corner of the county. The tornado, with an estimated wind speed of 90 mph, caused significant damage to homes along Fancher Road.
The NWS survey team is continuing to investigate other possible tornado touchdowns in the Buckeye State, including in Portage County and the town of Bucyrus in northern Ohio.
