BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office has released new details regarding a bank robbery that occurred on Thursday afternoon in Bainbridge. Deputies were dispatched to the Buckeye State Bank located at 101 East Main Street following a hold-up alarm.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with bank employees who confirmed the robbery. The suspect, described as a white, heavy-set male wearing a dark zip-up hoodie, camo baseball hat, black-rimmed glasses, and a dark goatee, had reportedly entered the bank through the exit door. He asked a teller for a withdrawal slip, on which he wrote that he was armed, did not want any dye packs, and demanded all the money in the drawer. The teller complied with the man’s demands. The Sheriff’s Office has not disclosed the amount of money stolen during the robbery.
Detectives discovered that the same suspect was spotted earlier in the day at the Merchants Bank in Greenfield around 9:37 AM. After making contact with the Adult Parole Authority, investigators were able to identify the man. A picture of the suspect from the APA was shown to the teller, who confirmed the identity of the suspected bank robber.
Investigators also took fingerprint and DNA swabs from areas the suspect had touched. While the sheriff’s office has not released further information on the identity of the suspect, they have confirmed that he is known to the police. The Guardian will continue to provide updates as more details are released to the public.
