CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Family and friends of a Ross County man have confirmed the identity of a body found along Baum Hill Rd. in a remote portion of Ross County near Knockemstiff.
The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Alan Brown, according to social media posts. Brown was reportedly very familiar with the area. His body was discovered by two mushroom hunters on Saturday.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the deceased was a male on Monday afternoon. According to their report, the body showed no immediate signs of trauma or injury.
Authorities described the clothing worn by the deceased man as camouflage pants, brown boots, a dark bluish shirt, and a dark baseball cap with a Confederate flag emblem. A person on Facebook Monday afternoon claimed to have last seen the man wearing clothing matching that description. Additionally, authorities found a number of batteries in his possession, along with a glass smoking pipe and a fixed blade knife near the body. Deputies stated that the man was located face down in a small creek.
The sheriff’s office said Brown’s death appeared to be “accidental in nature.”
