ATHENS, Ohio — On April 24, 2024, law enforcement agencies in Athens County executed search warrants at several residences in the Hollister area, resulting in multiple arrests related to drug trafficking and drug abuse. The coordinated effort involved the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, Athens City Police Department, and Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Sheriff Smith, the warrants were issued following an extensive investigation into drug-related activities. Detectives discovered evidence of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl sales, as well as a concerning number of overdoses occurring at the targeted residences without emergency services being rendered.
The Athens County Special Response Team secured both locations, turning them over to investigators. During the search, detectives seized drug paraphernalia, suspected Fentanyl, and suspected Methamphetamine.
The following individuals were arrested and charged:
- Jeffery Tomlin, 56, of Hollister, faces a charge of Permitting Drug Abuse (F5).
- Kelly Cox, 52, of Hollister, also faces a charge of Permitting Drug Abuse (F5).
- Kevin Hogsett, 48, of Marietta, was arrested for violating parole, as filed by the Adult Parole Authority.
Additional suspects are expected to be indicted on felony charges related to Drug Trafficking and Possession pending the receipt of lab results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
