WAVERLY, Ohio — An apartment fire in Waverly that displaced a family is still undermined, however, arson has been ruled out as a factor.
The fire happened at 213 Market Street in Waverly. The blaze, which ignited on, March 21, around 9 p.m. in the residential units above Perry Glass, a local business, triggered a rapid response from multiple fire departments and law enforcement agencies. Although the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, investigators have ruled out foul play. However, accidental causes cannot be discounted.
The fire resulted in several injuries and extended to the nearby Garnet A. Wilson Public Library, causing damage to the facility.
In response to the incident, the State Fire Marshal’s office dispatched investigators to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation, with assistance from fire departments from Waverly, Piketon, Pebble Township, and Huntington Township. Additional support was provided by the Waverly Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, and Pickaway County Box 65.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the fire to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
