CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — On Thursday, a two-year-old child was found riding a tricycle in the middle of a busy Chillicothe street. According to Chillicothe Police Department officers, while responding to the call, they were flagged down by multiple individuals who pointed out the child and a bystander. The child had been riding in the middle of the road. Officers proceeded to East Water Street and observed a small child standing outside, unsupervised, with the front door open.
After knocking, officers made contact with the mother. They informed her about the incident with the toddler. The mother claimed that a third party was supposed to be watching the child but must have left.
No criminal charges have been filed, but officers stated the case would be forwarded to Child Protective Services. The mother responded that they already had an open case with the agency.
The child was uninjured in the incident and was returned to the care of the mother.
