PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A suspect wanted in connection with a shooting and robbery in Ross County was shot after a high-speed chase.
Law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the scene in the 9000 block of Route 772 in Ross County just before 10 a.m. on reports of a drive-by shooting.
The suspect, officials said, was also linked to a homicide case in Columbus, fled the scene heading north toward Columbus in a large tan or gold-colored SUV bearing New York license plates.
At approximately 10:46 a.m., a high-speed vehicle pursuit was initiated in Pickaway County after the suspect was spotted in the area of Darbyville. The chase reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph. as it then entered into Madison County.
By 10:53 a.m., an officer involved in the pursuit reportedly crashed along Route 56. Two minutes later, at 10:55 a.m., officers with the South Bloomfield Police Department reported shots being fired.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the suspect was shot in the head, possibly self-inflicted.
