JACKSON, Ohio — The Jackson Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday evening around 6 PM.

According to authorities, a 2009 Ford Focus driven by 43-year-old Brian D. Landers, of Portsmouth, was traveling south on Route 139 when he allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Route 32. Landers, troopers say, was then struck by James R. Whitney, 49, of Albany, driving his 2019 Jeep Cherokee.

Landers was eventually flown by a MedFlight helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia. Mr. Whitney was treated and released by Jackson Co. EMS at the scene.

The crash, the patrol said, remains under investigation at this time.
