CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Ross County Sheriff’s Office has released new details on the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl that occurred on the morning of May 7th.
The teen, whose name is withheld due to her age, was walking to her school bus stop when she encountered a suspicious vehicle.
According to the police report, the girl left her home at approximately 7:17 am. As she turned onto Wright Lane, she noticed a white car parked facing the wrong direction. The car suddenly began moving toward her, crossing the center line. The teen told investigators that she fled to a neighbor’s house screaming, as the driver’s door of the vehicle opened. The vehicle then quickly reversed, turned, and sped off eastbound on State Route 28.
The girl described the car as white, with a loud exhaust, dark tinted windows, rust, chipped paint, and a prominent gap between the hood and body. She was unable to determine the make, model, or license plate number. The girl did not get a look at the driver but believes it was a male.
Deputies interviewed a witness at a nearby residence who heard the girl screaming. The witness corroborated the girl’s story and added that she believed the fleeing vehicle might have been a gold Toyota Camry.
Authorities conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. An ABOLO (Attempt to Be On the Lookout ) has been issued later that day for the suspects vehicle. Investigators, the report said, reviewed nearby security footage, but no cameras were positioned to capture the incident.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
No leads or further updates have been provided by authorities. The investigation remains on going.
