CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a harassment complaint after a resident of Westland Estates Apartments reported finding a dead mouse placed on her front door handle.
A sergeant from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene on Sunday, in response to the complaint made by a resident.
The resident informed the deputy that she believed her neighbor was responsible for the act. According to the resident, there has been ongoing tension between her and the neighbor due to disputes with other renters in the Chillicothe Metropolitan Housing apartment complex. The resident provided a picture of the dead mouse on her front door handle and screenshots of social media posts in which the neighbor allegedly admitted to the act.
The resident was advised to look into obtaining a protection order and was given the incident report number. She stated that she would discuss the matter further with the property manager.
No charges or arrests were made in the case of the “dead mouse.”
