GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio — A woman has been arrested in connection with a severe child abuse case involving a five-year-old girl, Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin announced Monday.
The Gallia County Sheriff’s Office reported that the arrest occurred last week after a woman was charged with allegedly burning the child intentionally.
Emergency medical personnel responded to a call on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at approximately 8:26 p.m. on Hannan Trace Road in Guyan Township. Upon arrival, they found the young girl suffering from severe burns over a significant portion of her body. She was transported to a medical center in Huntington, West Virginia, for treatment.
Detectives concluded that the injuries were inflicted deliberately. On Sunday, June 9, 2024, Malynda R. Harrison, 22, of Crown City, Ohio, was taken into custody. Harrison has been charged with felony child endangerment and is currently being held in the Gallia County Jail.
