COLUMBUS, Ohio — Families enrolled in Ohio’s Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) savings account program will now have more time to utilize their allocated funds, announced Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin on Tuesday. The deadline for spending funds on approved learning activities has been extended to September 1, 2025. Claims for ACE payments or reimbursements must be submitted by October 15, 2025.

The ACE program offers families a $1,000 credit per child per school year for various educational enrichment activities such as tutoring, day camps, music lessons, study skills services, and field trips. Although the application period for new enrollments has closed, currently enrolled families can continue to access qualifying activities until the revised deadline.

“Ohio students who faced disruptions in learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic are benefiting significantly from the ACE program’s support of before- and after-school enrichment activities,” said Director Dackin. “Extending the deadline ensures that approved families have ample time to make use of these educational opportunities.”

Merit International Inc. administers the program on behalf of the Department. House Bill 45 of the 134th General Assembly broadened access to and increased grant amounts for eligible Ohio students and families affected by pandemic-related learning challenges.
