SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection with a shooting in Portsmouth.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, June 12, 9-1-1 dispatchers received several calls starting at 11:18 PM regarding a possible domestic dispute at 2970 Dutch Ridge Road in Portsmouth.

Around 11:31 PM, a female called 9-1-1 stating that her father had just shot her husband. Deputies and rescue crews responded to the scene and found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported by medical helicopter to Saint Mary’s Hospital in West Virginia, where he remains in critical condition.

Detectives stated they located several individuals inside the residence. During the course of their investigation, detectives determined that two men had used different firearms to shoot the victim.

Arrested were Michael Ray Collins, 70, of Portsmouth, and Raymond Ross, 45, also of Portsmouth. Both men face charges of felonious assault.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
