CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Children and adults alike are invited to the grand opening, June 21, of the Kid’s Nature Zone Story Walk Trail at Buzzard’s Roost, located at 514 Red Bird Lane, Chillicothe, OH 45601. This new trail, featuring 24 story walk stops along nearly half a mile, promises to ignite imaginations and foster a love for nature and reading.
Visitors can expect to encounter secret nooks and playful spots designed for young explorers, including a fairy house and a vernal pool detour. The Park District’s mascot, Ash, will guide participants along the trail, ensuring no feature is missed and everyone stays on track.
The event kicks off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Chamber of Commerce from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by the first official hike of the KNZ Story Walk Trail. The featured book for this inaugural walk is “The Hike” by Alison Farrell.
In the evening, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, there will be a group hike, culminating in a fun activity for kids, storytelling around the campfire, and s’mores.
