ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A juvenile has been charged with multiple counts of vandalism, criminal damaging, criminal mischief, and theft following an alleged incident at Huntington Middle School over the weekend.
The suspect, identified as a student from another district, was implicated after surveillance footage captured the incident during a school-hosted blood drive on Saturday, June 15.
Middle School Principal Matt Murphy provided details of the damage, which included multiple rooms and various types of property. According to Murphy, the juvenile first entered the teacher’s lounge, where he scattered coffee grounds on the floor. He then proceeded to another classroom, where he contaminated a fish tank with rotten food and hand sanitizer, killing the fish, and poured a gallon of glue on the floor.
Further footage shows allegedly shows the teen taking an Amazon package containing headphones and discarding it elsewhere in the school.
In the science labs, the teen is accused of leaving faucets running over the weekend, dumped thermometers and cotton balls on the ground, and tampered with additional Amazon packages. He also reportedly stole money from tampon dispensers in two girls’ restrooms and severely damaged a $16,000 computer component of a $26,000 golf simulator in the gymnasium.
Additional reports indicate that the teen used a label maker to print offensive labels and glued several books to shelves, rendering them unusable.
The teen faces charges of breaking and entering, vandalism, criminal damaging, criminal mischief, and theft.
Further charges may follow pending additional damage assessments.
