CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Sheriff’s Office has provided further insight into an incident involving a local man who reported being robbed and assaulted with an axe. The incident occurred late in the evening on June 18th along Sugar Tree Road.
According to the report released by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the victim unresponsive and struggling to breathe. Deputies said they carried the injured man from a wooded area to a location accessible to medical personnel. The victim reportedly regained consciousness and later refused medical treatment.
Details emerged as the investigation progressed. The victim recounted to investigators a chilling sequence of events: while attempting to retrieve a stranded vehicle with two companions, he was suddenly struck from behind, resulting in a loss of consciousness. A witness corroborated the victim’s account, alleging that one of the companions wielded an axe, inflicting the blow to the victim’s head.
Officials have confirmed their intention to seek warrants for the arrest of two individuals implicated in the alleged axe assault. The Sheriff’s Office has redacted the names of those involved.
