CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An early morning disturbance at the Americas Best Value Inn on East Main Street resulted in the arrest of Jonathan Colon, following an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend.

Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department was dispatched to the hotel around 4:38 AM on June 24, 2024, following reports of a disorderly incident. Upon arrival, Officers found that Colon had been knocking on the door of room #80, occupied by his ex-girlfriend, and was refusing to leave.

Initially, Colon reportedly agreed to leave the property but returned shortly thereafter. According to the victim, she had called Colon back to discuss an earlier incident. Both had consumed alcohol before starting a conversation outside her room. The situation allegedly escalated when the victim attempted to return to her room, and Colon allegedly grabbed her, tried to lift her off the ground, and then pushed her onto the bed, strangling her.

The victim, said another guest, emerged from the bathroom upon hearing the commotion, prompting Colon to release Lewis. Colon left the hotel property before the police arrived but returned shortly after.

Upon returning, Colon reportedly admitted to the confrontation but refrained from elaborating.

Officers said in their report that they observed red marks on the victims neck, which were documented with photographs.

Colon was arrested and transported to the Ross County Jail on charges of strangulation and assault. He is being held instead of bond pending his court appearance in the Chillicothe Municipal Court.
