CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A theft and vandalism incident at a local fitness center led to charges against a 29-year-old truck driver, who was identified through surveillance footage and gym membership records.
On July 9, 2024, at approximately 1:19 PM, Officer Ian Lawhorn responded to a theft complaint at Anytime Fitness located at 1560 N. Bridge St. The gym manager reported that overnight, someone had broken into a display case and stolen two large containers of Redcon 1 supplements valued at $100 and a shaker bottle worth $35. The glass on the top of the display case, valued at $1,500, was also damaged.
Surveillance footage revealed the suspect forcing open the display case with his keys and stealing the items. His identity was confirmed through the gym’s check-in records and his membership profile, which included a photograph and recognizable tattoos. The police department redacted the name of the suspect on the report provided to the media.
The truck driver, reportedly from Arkansas, frequently used Anytime Fitness locations across the country while on the road, officers said.
Following the incident, Anytime Fitness’s corporate office canceled the man’s membership. He was reportedly checked in at a gym in North Carolina the morning after the theft.
The Chillicothe Police Department is currently seeking to contact Steven (last name redacted) and will be filing the appropriate charges once further information is obtained.
