CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man managed to escape police custody early Thursday morning after being approached in an alley near S. Mulberry Street.

At approximately 2:38 a.m. on July 25, police were dispatched to the alley behind 246 S. Mulberry Street in response to a disorderly conduct report. While patrolling the area, an officer spotted a male individual dressed in black and carrying two black book bags near the intersection of Caldwell and E. 5th Street.

The individual, later identified as Andre Michael Deeds, initially complied with the officer’s request to stop and provide identification. However, as the officer verified Deeds’ information with dispatch, Deeds suddenly dropped his bags and fled on foot.

The officer pursued Deeds, who ran through residential properties, cutting between houses and jumping fences. Despite the officer’s efforts, Deeds evaded capture and was last seen heading southbound on S. Mulberry Street before disappearing from view.

According to the report provided by the department, a warrant is being sought for his arrest on charges of obstruction of justice. The two book bags Deeds left behind have been inventoried and secured as evidence.
